Seriously Strange Conference 2026

Celebrating 45 Years of Anomalous Research: Join ASSAP in Worcester 21 - 23 August 2026

The Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena (ASSAP) is proud to announce its 45th-anniversary conference, a milestone event dedicated to the rigorous exploration of the unexplained.

This year, we invite researchers, enthusiasts, and the curious alike to join us at the University of Worcester for a truly special two-day event packed with insight, history, and community.

What lies beyond the edge of our current scientific understanding? This is the central question driving our upcoming event, where an elite group of special guest speakers will gather to bridge the gap between the known and the unexplained. From the whispers of the past to the high-tech mysteries of the skies, we invite you to join us for an exploration of the phenomena that challenge our perception of reality.

Our speakers will lead attendees through the chilling and complex worlds of ghosts and poltergeists. Moving beyond mere campfire stories, these sessions will examine the latest evidence and theories regarding survival of consciousness and the physical manifestations of "noisy ghosts." Complementing this is a deep dive into folklore, tracing how ancient myths and local legends shape our modern experiences with the supernatural.

The conference takes a turn toward the cosmic and the abstract with dedicated sessions on UFOs and the recent shifts in how we understand unidentified aerial phenomena. For those interested in the structure of reality itself.

Consciousness, is the mind a product of the brain, or something more fundamental that interacts with the paranormal? Time Slips, Investigating rare accounts of individuals seemingly stepping into different eras of history.

A Community of Inquiry Under the broad banner of the paranormal, this event serves as a hub for rigorous inquiry and open-minded discussion. Beyond the core topics, our speakers will touch upon a multitude of other anomalous subjects, ensuring that every attendee leaves with a deeper understanding of the world’s greatest mysteries.

Whether you are a seasoned researcher or a curious newcomer, this is a unique opportunity to learn from the leading voices in the field. Join us as we shine a light on the shadows and seek the truth behind the anomalous.

The weekend kicks off on Friday night with an atmospheric Ghost Tour. We will explore the historic Commandery Museum in the town centre, focusing on the mysteries surrounding the local building, a perfect way to set the mood for the days ahead.

On Saturday evening, we transition from research to celebration with our Gala Evening. The night begins with a delicious two-course meal, followed by live entertainment and a disco. It is a wonderful opportunity to socialize with speakers and fellow members as we toast to 45 years of scientific inquiry.
